Are you struggling with food?
If …
- you are not able to cook hot meals for yourself or your family
- you are looking after someone in an unpaid caring capacity and would value some respite from cooking
- you are worrying about the cost of food
- cooking is causing you anxiety and distress
- you are having to choose between heating and food.
Whatever the reason may be, we can help.
Please note: Village Agents no longer have access to or deliver free meals, as the Food Resilience Taskforce has been stood down.
Agents can support with putting you in touch with your local food bank and/or local food pantry.
They can assist with the referral and help you find your nearest collection point if required.

If you are struggling to afford food, we can help.
- We can organise emergency food needs.
- We can connect you with Community Groups who can supply you with meals and food boxes.
- If you are a Carer and would like a respite pack, we can arrange for pre-cooked meals for you and the person you care for to give you a break.
- Receiving food is not means tested. Proof of income is not required.

The Somerset Food Resilience Taskforce, CCS and Somerset County Council worked together to increase food security for residents in Somerset during the pandemic.
During the 2 years the taskforce operated, over 1,000,000 items of food and household goods were delivered to residents in Somerset.

The Smart Communities team at CCS can support your community:
- find the resources to set up a food bank, or community larder.
- help find funding to buy fridges, freezers, and other equipment to help you store food safely.
